Airlines Go Green

Now that fuel prices have fallen off a cliff, one might think that airlines would abandon any and all plans to lessen their dependence on oil. Not so, according to [TravelMuse](http://www.travelmuse.com/community/blogs/travel_musings), which this week wrote about two initiatives from big carriers. [Continental Airlines](http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/default.aspx) plans to power a demo flight with sustainable biofuel (read: algae) while [Emirates](http://www.emirates.com/us/english/), the Dubai-based airline that recently [expanded service](http://www.halogenguides.com/articles/1531-new-nonstop-flights-from-california-to-dubai-on-emirates) to the U.S., is testing out a new environmentally-friendly program on it’s flight to San Francisco.
