Waiting in line at the car rental counter is NOT the best way to start a vacation. But now that Hertz is getting into the car-sharing business, we might be able to say good-bye to all that. According to the [Wall Street Journal](http://www.careerjournal.com/article/SB122827038118974891.html), drivers can soon rent cars by the hour through [Connect by Hertz](http://www.connectbyhertz.com/). The service officially kicks off on December 16 in two dozen locations, but it looks like you can already rent in a few cities, including New York, Paris and London. A $50 annual membership fee gets you a rental rate that starts as low as $10 an hour, including gas.
We think these rentals are ideal for day trips. Pick up a car at various spots around a city (think no lines). Take it back the same day, and you won’t have to pay that exorbitant fee for overnight parking at your hotel.
