Hotelier Fairmont continues to expand its [fractional](http://realestate.halogenguides.com/fractional-residences) brand, Heritage Place, despite the slowdown in the real estate market. For its latest additions in Whistler, British Columbia and Miramar Beach on Florida’s panhandle, the company assumed the management of existing vacation home properties from operator Storied Places rather than building residences from the ground up.
The new locations bring Fairmont’s number of fractional locations to five, including properties in San Francisco, Telluride, Colo. and Acapulco, and give owners more options for swapping weeks, an increasingly important perk in the [fractional ownership](http://www.halogenguides.com/travel/guide/buying-a-fractional-vacation-retreat) industry. The brand is set to expand further by adding properties in Dubai, South Africa and Oman, as well as two less far-flung locations in the U.S.—Vail, Colo. and Palm Desert, Calif.
