Brad Pitt’s blazing eyes might be a dreamy blue, but his heart’s all about going green. The earthy actor’s latest eco project is a collaboration with L.A.-based architecture firm GRAFT, and Dubai’s Zabeel Properties to create a five-star “green” resort in Dubai, one of the seven (and most glamorous) emirates in the United Arab Emirates. Few details have been released about the 800-room hotel and attached leisure complex, but Pitt’s experience helping to rebuild homes in New Orleans through his sustainable Make It Right Nola project should lend well to this bold venture.
This news comes on the heels of the country’s new green building laws, enacted this year. Under the new resolution, owners of residential and commercial buildings and properties in Dubai must comply with a number of environmental requirements. Although the location is yet to be announced, the new complex is rumored to be the future site of award ceremonies and celebrity events. Zabeel Investments Executive Chairman Mohammed Ali Al-Hashimi says the partnership with Pitt and GRAFT is part of a long-term affiliation that will include comparable developments in other metropolitan cities. Sounds to us like we’ve got ourselves a new green dream team.
